Art Workshop 2022

Art workshop with Dame Denise L’Estrange-Corbet

A colourful welcome to our new location!

On Saturday 24th July 2022, our new premises in Avondale, Auckland was full of colour and creation as 20 young artists with Down syndrome and their siblings were led by Dame Denise L’Estrange-Corbet in this exciting first for UpsideDowns.

We love our new home, but it is full of blank, white walls, and Dame Denise saw a golden opportunity to create a more inviting space for our visitors and create the experience of a lifetime for these budding artists at the same time. Denise, daughter Pebbles, volunteer Maggie Bishop-Booth, staff members Sarah Paterson-Hamlin and Adrian Hatwell, and parent helpers all worked together to bring this event to life, and we will be welcoming you to our opening night soon to view these masterpieces on full display.

Enjoy these images below of the super fun afternoon, taken by Adrian and by professional photographer and Mum of Finja and Zorah, Mara Sommer.
